Why did I choose this motto for confucius-sayings.com?
Because there’s a lot of messed up stuff going on in the world today, and I created a site to help do my part to fight against that…by doing something positive and being part of the solution, not part of the problem.
I hope you’ll join me in this journey to do the same.

I’m keeping hope alive and have found a way to focus on something very timely and much needed today, a positive yet realistic philosophy to deal with life whether you’re just an ordinary person or a leader.

You can learn a lot from Confucius, who resigned his status and position because of a political defunctness from his superiors he could not win against within the system due to too many sacred institutional cows…and so did something positive from the outside…one by one teach others…the next generation for the next 2000 or more years…to no longer think like that! Confucius won! So can you!
Wow, the power of one man to influence so much of history…
…and for such a long time. Confucius’ teachings became so important that Wikipedia said this of the Confucian Analects, “For almost two thousand years, the Analects had also been the fundamental course of study for any Chinese scholar, for a man was not considered morally upright or enlightened if he did not study Confucius’ works. The imperial examination…emphasized Confucian studies and expected candidates to quote and apply the words of Confucius in their essays.”
Now that’s the power of inspirational influence and positive change!
The Extent of Confucian Influence on the World
The Wikipedia article continues to say the extent of influence that Confucius had lasted for thousands of years to this day…and in spite of the Analects as disorganized and random writings, they were still so popular that they were even spread throughout Europe and Asia.
Another article in Wikepedia about Confucius goes on to say that, “Confucius’s works, words are studied by many scholars in many other Asian countries, such as Korea, Japan, Vietnam, etc. And many of those countries still hold the traditional memorial ceremony every year.”
Confucianism Keeps it Real – More Than Just To Be Amused
Confucius taught and lectured about a superior moral philosophy or way of thinking later dubbed Confucianism. Confucius probably didn’t intent to create another “ism”. He wanted to keep it real. That’’s why his Analects are a series of real life lectures and conversations, not just some great book he wrote based on some theories.
Confucian Thinking , Wisdom and the Audacity of Hope
Confucius was inspirational because he had what some now call “the audacity of hope”. This is the ability to observe what’s wrong with society and have the courage to help do something to positively change it while others would only contribute to its negative down spiral.

At this site, I provide snippets of the Confucian Analects to promote Confucian thinking and wisdom because I agree with the basis of Confucian thought which says that people should, “think deeply for themselves and relentlessly study the outside world…[in government this would result in] rulers [who] would succeed to power on the basis of their moral merit, not their parentage…[and in personal daily life in society this would result in] the attainment of skilled judgment rather than knowledge of rules.”
Goal?
To become better people and a better society, one by one! How? By applying “Confucian Wisdom Today!”
